Why take a chauffeur up to Fourvière?

Fourvière hill is steep: the climbs from Old Lyon are hard going, the funicular is often packed at peak times and parking spaces around the basilica are rare. For an elderly person, a family with a pushchair or a group of pilgrims, a chauffeured ride makes all the difference.

  • Drop-off as close as possible to the basilica
  • A booked return: your chauffeur comes back at the agreed time
  • A van for up to 8 passengers for groups and families
  • A fixed price, known before departure

Where your chauffeur drops you

We drop you on Place de Fourvière, at the foot of the basilica, or at the most convenient entrance depending on traffic. For the return, we agree on a precise pick-up point and time together: your chauffeur waits for you there, so you never have to look for a taxi at the top of the hill.

Want to continue to Old Lyon? Your chauffeur can also pick you up at the bottom, near Saint-Jean Cathedral, after a walk down through the Rosary Gardens.

Journey time to Fourvière

Allow about 15 minutes from Part-Dieu station, 10 minutes from Perrache or Place Bellecour, and 35 to 45 minutes from Saint-Exupéry airport depending on traffic. From the airport, it is an easy way to start your stay in Lyon at the basilica, luggage included.

Masses, feasts and busy days

The basilica holds Masses every day and welcomes many pilgrims. Some days are exceptionally busy: around 8 December, during the Festival of Lights, traffic on the hill is heavily restricted, as it is for major celebrations. Book ahead: we adapt the route and drop-off point to the restrictions in place.

Pilgrim groups and parishes

Parishes, chaplaincies, school groups or pilgrims from abroad: our van carries up to 8 passengers with their luggage. For larger groups, we coordinate several vehicles arriving together. We can also arrange a full day: Fourvière in the morning, then the Ars shrine in the afternoon.

Elderly passengers and reduced mobility

The climb to Fourvière is one of the hardest in Lyon on foot. Our chauffeurs take their time: help getting in and out of the vehicle, a folding wheelchair in the boot, drop-off as close as possible to the entrance.
